"We will facilitate the setting up of Data Embassies for countries looking for digital continuity solutions," Sitharaman said during her Union Budget speech in Parliament.

 

The idea of "digital embassies" is becoming increasingly popular among small nations because they require independent infrastructure that is resilient to disruption.

 

A data embassy was authorised in 2015 by Estonia, one of the world's most advanced nations in terms of digital management. The Data Embassy approach has been adopted by a few additional nations, including Luxembourg and Monaco.
