"The future of India in many ways will involve not just bringing talent to the countries but bringing more talents with a background in AI," Smith said.
As per him, responsible AI development is required, and it must fundamentally uphold human values like security, privacy, and inclusion. According to Smith, the purpose of AI is to increase production in a more intelligent way, and it must be developed through collaborations between academics and businesspeople from nations like India and the US.
"There is no doubt, you can go anywhere in the world and if you find a talented company, I bet you will find a talented person who grew up in India. When you go to the United States, you will find about 6 million of them including my boss Satya Nadela," he said.
Smith was speaking after an on-stage conversation with Minister of State for Electronics and IT Rajeev Chandrasekhar on "US-India Partnership: Bridging the Skill Gap".
Chandrasekhar revealed during the conversation that India is establishing skills centers in 30 nations to satisfy local demands from the government abroad. He claimed that some nations were reluctant to accept Indian talent before to the pandemic, but following Covid, those same nations began making demands on India for its talent.
The minister claimed that because technology affects all industries, India has increased its emphasis on educating its personnel in digital skills.
